For all those budget-concious spring and summer brides out there, have I got a treat for you (and your bridesmaids)! You already saw my picks for affordable wedding dresses, but why not take it easy on your ‘maids too? Just because you don’t buy it at a bridal salon doesn’t mean it’s not appropriate for a wedding. For $150 and under, here are some off-the-rack dresses that I think would work well as bridesmaid dresses. ...

Last night, I clipped coupons.
I get those pesky packets of ads and pizza deals about once a week, and until last night I’ve always taken them directly to the recycling bin. I don’t need a new (used) car, three large pizzas, or collectible ceramic frog figurines, thank you. But the thriftiness came out last night and I plopped down with the bundle of papers and a pair of scissors and went though.
And you know ...

Maybe it’s the spring itch, but I’m dying to buy and wear a ton of dresses right now. Not that I want to spend a ton of money.
Thats where Forever 21 comes in. They have a ton of cheap cute dresses right now. Instead of our weekly FOWL, I thought it would be fun to see if I could put together a week’s worth of outfits of Forever 21 dresses – a new one each ...

I haven’t talked much about the economy on here because not only am I iffy on details (for instance, I pretty much zoned out in 11th grade when they explained the stock market), but I like to keep a positive spin on things and focus on how to still accomplish your goals on a tighter budget rather than use any scare tactics I may have picked up from the media.
But sometimes it’s necessary to wallow ...

On Saturday I had six lovely ladies over for a “swap party”. I sent simple facebook invites and everyone was instructed to bring any clothing, books, cds, movies, housewares that they were ready to let go. Once everyone arrived and the goods were spread, the swapping commenced!
My dining room table turned display for housewares and miscellaneous! The “Books, movies, media” table had a lot of work-out videos on it! ...

Back again with FOWL (Formal, Office, Work and Late-Night looks stemming from one piece!).
Today I thought it would be fun to use an item that you probably already have in your closet (or should, and could add one for $10): A black tee. I chose a short sleeve, but you could probably adapt these looks for long-sleeve too. To work for all these looks, this should be a nice quality tee, not too thin ...

Remember the post I wrote here about how to sock away some extra moolah? Well I followed my own advice (!) and removed my saved credit card number from Amazon! No more one-clicking for me! I’ve found that setting a savings goal is really crucial to my success. For instance, I know that I want a new laptop (I’m a Mac girl, in case you want to know). By projecting some of my larger expenses through ...

I had yesterday off for the holiday, and decided to go see “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” Reading the other reviews online, it is very possible that I am the only person on the internet who liked this movie. I should note that I have not read the books (yet!).
“Shopaholic” stars Isla (“Eye-lah”) Fisher as 25-year-old Rebecca Bloomwood, a journalist with an actual shopping addiction and tons of credit card debt that she seems to ride ...

My friend Amanda is engaged and getting married on the beach in Hawaii this May. I agreed to aid in the elusive wedding dress search.
My mission (should I choose to accept): Find a wedding dress under $500 without puffy sleeves or a puffy skirt or a train. Strapless is out (I hear ya, sister). Must be beach-appropriate, but she’s a bride, after all. Short or long are both ok. Let’s do this thing. By Alfred Sungs Bridal. ...

In line with my “save money” resolution, I’ve been trying to cook more (another resolution) and eat in. This also is in line with my “reach goal weight” resolution, so luckily all three of those can go hand in hand to make this fabulous meal:
A while ago I stocked up on frozen stir-fry veggies. The bag has peas, green beans, broccoli, carrots, water chestnuts (my fav), and on sale was pretty cheap. I can buy ...
