One evening last week Ryan and I watched “Visual Acoustics: The Modernism of Julius Schulman“. It is a documentary about the photographer Julius Schulman who is renowned for his work on modern architecture. He is responsible for shooting the work of many prominent Los Angeles architects in the early mid-century. Perhaps you’ll recognize this, one of his most famous photos:
Schulman helped put Los Angeles architecture on the map. It was fascinating to see him (in ...

Just finished flipping through my issue of Country Living that arrived today (I always do a good flip-through before settling into the articles I want to linger on) and just adored this photo of a simple bright kitchen. My favorite part? The antique cutting boards. I love how their warm patina looks against the stark white walls. Don’t they just make you want to whip out a loaf of oven-warm french bread and cut through ...

Ryan got us a Netflix account and I have my own queue! Question is, what do I put on it?
For reference, some of my favorite movies are: American Beauty, Chocolat, Almost Famous, Under the Tuscan Sun, and Benny and Joon.
Any recommendations?

I’m loving the mostly-photo blog, F**k Yeah, Marilyn Monroe! Hundreds of photos and movie stills of the actress, and a sprinkling of quote-worthy sound bites.
Perfect dash of glamour for your day, I think. Enjoy!

Sunday night I rented “Priceless”. It’s sort of a take on “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” but set on the French Riviera. Irene (Tautou) is a beautiful woman who makes a career out of wooing older rich men ...

I didn’t get to watch the Oscars, but taking a look at the winners list today, generally everyone that I wanted to win won. Although I must admit, I slacked on seeing all the nominated films this year. So while my opinion may not be the most educated on the awards themselves, I can definitely talk fashion.
The best:
I’ll admit, Anne, that since seeing you in “The Princess Diaries” I can’t really take you seriously. But ...

I had yesterday off for the holiday, and decided to go see “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” Reading the other reviews online, it is very possible that I am the only person on the internet who liked this movie. I should note that I have not read the books (yet!).
“Shopaholic” stars Isla (“Eye-lah”) Fisher as 25-year-old Rebecca Bloomwood, a journalist with an actual shopping addiction and tons of credit card debt that she seems to ride ...

So anyone who has talked to me in the last month knows that I just started watching the WB show “Felicity,” where a young girl follows her crush to college all the way across the country to New York City. The show was popular when I was just starting high school, but I never even saw an episode. So I checked out season one from my library and I AM HOOKED.
The charm of the ...
