If you haven’t checked out my e-decorating page in a few weeks, you may be pleasantly surprised to see that I’ve expanded my offerings.
After a lot of careful consideration, I boosted my original standard package to include two live chats – an initial consultation and a follow-up interview one to three months after design completion. I also improved the layout of the pages to address each area of the room – I can get much ...

The fabulous Michelle (the When I Grow Up Coach for creative career types, like moi) has a typical New York problem: her bedroom is kind of small. With a big bed, big dresser, and other “stuff” in the room, it was starting to feel less like the relaxing and rejuvenating place that she and her hubby need, and more like a storage area.
Not only does the couple need to sleep and dress there, but it ...

Njeri contacted me for help with her open floor plan that spanned her living room and kitchen with a breakfast nook. She had all her major furniture pieces, but needed some advice on drapery for her nineteen foot windows (that is NOT a typo!) and wanted to inject some color and interest into the space without painting her entire two story high living room or cutting off the attached eating nook in the process. Here’s ...

My friend Laura just bought a new house! I was very honored that she asked me to help her inject some personality into their new bonus room. Since the new house is substantially larger than their first “starter home” they were already spending quite a bit on furniture. They already had the basic pieces for the bonus room – an L-shaped desk, pull-out sofa, tv cabinet, and bookcase. But they needed some accents and some ...

You guys have seen this design I did for Shannon’s guest house a few times already (I just love the color scheme!)
Shannon had a pretty teensy budget (and a baby on the way!) so a lot of the pieces I recommended were for her to look for in places like Craigslist, ebay, and thrift stores. And thanks to some pieces she had around the house, she was able to make some tweaks that fit her ...

For a while I’ve been wanting to change up the “product” that my clients get when hiring me to decorate their home via the internet. While the blog post and/or email has worked just fine, I missed the discussion part of design, when the designer can really explain the ideas and concepts behind the new look. I also hadn’t ever included floor plans before, or inspiration photos.
So I’m very excited to share that I’ve finally ...

I was so excited to help Shannon with her guest room. Shannon and her hubby are expecting a baby this summer and the guest room needs to be ready for all the helping hands that will come to stay after the birth. She wanted the room to feel peaceful, relaxing, and stay flexible enough that grandma could one day move in.
This is what we’re working with:
Shannon and her belly weren’t quite ready to paint the ...

As a kid I had a pretty intense dollhouse and dollhouse village (made of shoeboxes) that I would constantly redecorate. If I wasn’t rearranging my own bedroom, I was rearranging dollhouse furniture. Thank goodness I didn’t know about demo back then!
Now that I’m all grown up and have this lil ol’ blog, it’s so exciting to me that people actually pay me to do the same thing to their homes, only virtually. A problem room ...

Remember Liz, whose drab bedroom had her and her boy yawning? Beige, beige, more beige. Plus a lack of necessary furniture. On a student budget, they weren’t sure they could afford to make a big change. My suggestion was to spend their few hundred dollar on thrifted finds and pops of color.
Due to availability, Liz made a few tweaks to the design. When she sent me her “after” pictures, I was so excited to see ...

When Megan emailed me and asked for a little help with decorating the oddly-shaped bedroom her two little girls share, I was very excited to get started! Megan wanted florals, basketry, more storage, sweet decorations, polka dots, and a spacious layout for the two beds she’d already purchased. The beds, tv, and custom window treatments were staying but everything else was up for debate. Here’s the before:
And here’s what I suggested:
While I like the layout ...
