A few months ago I was digging around at Goodwill and found a sweet little silver plated Gorham bowl for about $3.00. Since I figured I could find a use for it, I picked it up. I was disappointed to discover when I cleaned it that the bottom of the bowl had some erosion (it was seriously so dirty before that I couldn’t tell!). Otherwise it was in good shape.
Here’s the outside:
Look what a little cleaning ...

Even before we moved in together, I had started decorating our new apartment. When Ryan agreed to the idea of a gallery wall, I was really excited to finally get to pull some of my favorite pieces out of my “to be framed” file, and also create and purchase new pieces to round it out.
One thing I knew I wanted was some kind of visual symbol that said that this home was ours together. Not ...

When I shared some of my seasonal photos earlier this week, my girl Jackie was asking about this stocking. In fact, I made it myself and you can too!
I didn’t take many photos of the stocking creation-process because I was wiped after ditching another (way too ambitious) project part-way through. My goal with these was to GET FINISHED. So you’ll have to rely mostly on my instructions. Also, I was originally inspired by this etsy ...

A few years old, but still a great idea for a Halloween wedding. Why not use this same idea for your own home-bound pumpkin carving ideas (or pumpkin painting, for those who can’t be trusted with sharp objects!)?
Try:
1. Your house numbers
2. Your anniversary
3. Initials or monogram
4. The first initials of each family member
5. Spell out a word like Boo! or Spook
Other ideas?

Seen on Martha Stewart
Been brainstorming Halloween costumes. Here are some of our ideas for adult costumes.
1. “Tool” Box (think, box around your body and Ed Hardy shirt, sideways baseball cap)
2. Broken washer/dryer
3. Zombie cowboy/cowgirl
4. Boxed wine (decorated box around your body, “grapes” around your head and torso). Real wine optional.
5. “Free Puppies” box (box around your body, person dressed as puppy, other stuffed puppies around top of box).
Hmm, can you tell we’re up to our ...

Three weeks ago I hosted a bridal shower for my friend Melissa (who is getting married this weekend!). The theme was Plates and Panties, but you’ll see from her loot that not too many ladies brought plates…
Martha Stewart tissue paper poofs over a handmade tablecloth. Pink and white carnations in IKEA vases. The cake was vanilla with dyed pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles. This was the wine station; food was served on the counter (not ...

This is a project for anyone who has been packing for a trip and realizes she doesn’t want to throw her shoes in with her white tee, or someone who commutes to work in rubber boots but wants to change to heels when she comes out of the rain. Sound familiar?
You will need:
An iron
A fat quarter of fabric (A great way to use up scraps, or buy them at the store)
thread, needle, pins
ribbon
Step 1: Iron ...

I’m not usually a big advocate for favors (this isn’t the Oscars, you don’t get a goodie bag), but these were easy enough that I just went for it. They helped pull in the color scheme and will be a nice treat for the guests after they leave.
The concept: chocolates in a custom bag, arranged like a candy shop.
How-to:
Make simple labels. I found this print-out on iDIY (freebie courtesy of creature comforts), printed them, cut ...

I’ve been spending a ton of time over at the Vintage Printables blog after hearing about it from Jamie Meares. When I came across this print I immediately thought “placemats”!
Chic *and* educational
If I owned a diner or something I’d just laminate them and call it a day. But for something a little more chic, why not print it out on iron transfer paper and iron the design onto some rustic linen placemats? Hell, you could ...
