I forgot to show you the results of the screenprinting class I took!
Here’s a little something hanging on my fridge (Vermeer magnet courtesy of Dad):
The umbrella and raindrops were drawn freehand on blank newsprint and cut out with a razorblade. That stencil was centered on the screen, taped off, and lasted for about 10 prints (most of which were testers on more newsprint). When I got home I trimmed the paper and wrote a little ...

I’ve been collecting pieces for a gallery wall for a few months now and can’t wait to round out the collection and start putting it together. In the meanwhile, I thought you’d like to see some of the gorgeous pictures I’m using as inspiration! You’ll notice that I like mismatched frames (sometimes in a unifying color, like black), a variation of sizes, and incorporating three dimensional pieces as ...

Unrelated, but one of my fave photos from our Hawaii trip in 2006.
Readers,
How’s your week going? I’m getting sick but I’ve also been reading a lot and getting my apartment in shape, so that’s good.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I want my life to look when I am old and look back to reflect. And thinking about what in my life gives me joy currently. And it’s become abysmally clear that I ...

Attention Seattlites!
Next week is Spring Into Art week at the Pratt Fine Arts Center. You can take one-day (average 4 hour) workshops in welding, silk screening, glassblowing, letterpress, painting, drawing, and more! Each workshop is around $45 to $100 (costs vary based on supplies. Glass work is more expensive). And many are evening and weekend times that are easy on 9-5ers.
I just signed up for silk-screening! Spaces are limited, so sign up now. These workshops ...

A blogosphere fave, Molly Sim’s apartment (and namely this painting above the couch) has made its way onto many inspiration boards, I’m sure. Mine too! Of course as soon as I saw it I thought “I could do that” but was waaay too lazy to figure out where to start.
Then I saw that Kay at Apartment #412 actually went ahead with it, so then I thought “ok, I really COULD do that”.
Kay's inspirational quotes above ...

A couple weeks ago I bought a dishwasher magnet set on etsy. In fact, it was the first item that I’d ever seen on etsy, and have saved as a favorite forever. It’s one of those clean/dirty magnet pairs that lets everyone know the state of the dishwasher. Like this (my own crappy picture of the usual state of MY dishwasher):
I was so smitten with my cute magnets when they arrived that I wanted to ...

Last weekend my friend Blake came up from Oregon to take photos of my parents for their 25th wedding anniversary. Blake’s photography business is just getting off the ground, but he’s already showing remarkable talent. He took some photos of my man and me around downtown Tacoma before my folks showed up.
Have a look. Here’s Ryan and me.
Read Blake’s blog here and check out his website and portfolio. He comes highly recommended by moi, so ...

So I bought this poster over a year ago (!!!) because I fell in love with it when I saw it in Domino once. Only I didn’t consider the dimensions when I ordered it, and it’s HUGE. Huge poster = custom framing = $$$$. Therefore, it’s been loosely rolled up on a shelf in my closet for God knows how long (oh the shame).
Now that my credit card is paid off, I have a ...
