About Maggie![]() Hi, I’m Maggie and I’m the author of magchunk. I’m 24 and live in the greater Seattle area. No kids or pets, but a pretty cool boyfriend of 3 1/2 years who lives about an hour away. I love fashion, decor, and writing (among many other random interests!).
Magchunk gets its name from an old high school nickname of mine. My pal Alex and I loved the word “chunk” for its versatility. We use it as a verb, noun, and adjective. Heck, even as a full sentence. In a similar way, magchunk is all about nouns AND verbs. Pretty things to look at, but also fun things to do and ideas to use. Search the categories on the left sidebar – you’ll find posts about fashion, decor, entertaining (I’m a Martha-wannabe), food, and weddings. And everything in between! I hope you’ll be an active reader of magchunk – I love to hear reader’s thoughts and suggestions, which you can do by commenting on the post (I read them all!) or emailing me at maggie@magchunk.com. Thanks for reading! ___________________________________ Here’s a little Q&A I did earlier this year. Enjoy! 1. one trip to anywhere in the world: where would you go, what would you do, how long would you stay? I’ve been on a huge Africa kick lately, so I’d definitely go there. Go on safari, climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (and ahem, get in shape first), and definitely Morocco! I hate rushed trips, so maybe three or four months? 2. best place to go for inspiration? The coffee shop! I’m a Northwest girl for sure. Doesn’t have to be Starbucks though. I love the smell of the espresso beans and people watching. I can always get a ton of writing done there (for work or for fun) in like no time at all. When I was in college I’d go get coffee and write for my creative fiction class… too many funny conversations and people to turn into characters. 3. last meal? Not sure if this is supposed to be the last meal I ate or the hopeful last meal I will eat… The last thing I ate today was a plain fat free yogurt and an english muffin with marionberry jam for breakfast this morning. For the last meal I’ll have EVER, I’d like a steak, my dad’s oven-baked macaroni and cheese, a few onion rings, and some kind of apple/caramel/crumble/crust dessert with hand-whipped cream. Hmm, no wonder I had to join Weight Watchers… 4. funniest or most embarrassing thing you did publicly as a kid? feel free to post pictures! Well I was the crying girl all through elementary school, and that was embarrassing enough. But once I fell on the playground while running at full tilt (second grade, probably), and just bit it. Face first onto the sandy ground, just as all the kids from every class came running out for recess. I got sand up my nose, in my mouth, in my eyes, and all over my turquoise stretch pants and sweatshirt. Naturally, I cried. Now it’s kind of funny, but thankfully there are no pictures! 5. most successful moment as an artist. however you define it. My college capstone project presentation (in creative writing), when my professor introduced me, he said he wished he could write dialogue as well as I could. Even though I was really really nervous to go read my short story to 40 people, that felt really good to hear and gave me an extra boost of confidence in my talent as a writer. |
