I love this post & the images you chose! In my college years I loved vast, lofty spaces decorated in that Elle Decor UK sort of way - you know, very feminine with giant gilt mirrors and frilly dresses, antiques, and a few modern touches thrown in. But as a kid I was (like you) a HUGE Laura Ingalls fan, and really wanted a picturesque cabin in the woods with wildflowers in jam jars on the table, etc.
I realize now that I wouldn't really feel comfortable in a giant loft, and today I prefer a mix of modern and well-loved pieces.

I went through a big French Country and Shabby Chic phase in my early 20s, but I always go back to the mid-century modern styles. I love the clean lines and the simplicity.
