I know you’re ready! Just kick greedy old summer on out of here! September is YOUR month, man!

Don’t you know how I’ve been longing to wear tights with cute little heels and scarves?

Yeah, like that.

In other news, here’s what I’m up to this weekend:

1. Passing along my tv! We’re getting a new (RockBand-worthy) one for the apartment.

2. Melissa’s wedding hair trial run. Yep, I’m now design blogger turned party planner turned hairstylist. Cross your fingers that it goes well (at least it’s the trial run!)

3. Playing Beatles RockBand? Have to try it out before buying it, after all…

4. Hanging out with RyRy and cuddling. I’ve been cuddle deprived all week as we’ve both been super busy.

5. Convincing Ryan to paint the bedroom pink (Benjamin Moore’s Wild Aster is beauuuuutiful), as well as picking a gray for the main room and hopefully a color for the tv room.

6. Debating whether or not to register for housewarming gifts. What do you think? I just fried my blender last night, so we could use a new one…

7. Buying flowers, baking a cake, blowing up balloons and throwing the best pink-and-green plates-and-panties shower ever!

8. As soon as the last guest leaves on Sunday, PACKING!!!!

Wow-you are a busy girl this weekend! Today I’m taking both girls to the Dr. for shots. Not looking forward to that one. My bestie was going to take me out for a bday dinner tonight but my husband got called in to work (story of my life) so now we will just be hanging at home. Saturday we have a wedding to go to, and Sunday is my bday which nothing seems to be planned since I asked my husband the other day what he was doing for me and he didn’t even know what day it was on! After 14 years you would think he had that one down!

Have a wonderful weekend, that shot of your new place looks fab, so happy for you! And good luck on the shower! The favors turned out great, can’t wait to see the rest!

The Beatles Rock Band is so much fun! It’s hard to pick out what song to sing. You don’t even need the lyrics except for the weird ones like “Lucy in Sky.”

I don’t know how I landed on your site. And, I hardly ever post comments on blogs but I have to say….

Housewarming gifts?!?! Are you for real? Come on!! Get a grip and remove that from your list. TACKY.

Hope things work out for you!

Thanks Ashley for sharing your opinion. Registering was suggested to me by several relatives wondering if they can help us out in some way. Just putting feelers out there to see if this is something young couples usually do. I know that I give friends housewarming gifts, maybe I’m the only one?

I think it’s a big deal when a couple moves in together and it’s totally acceptable to register for housewarming gifts, especially if you have relatives asking how they can help out. As long as you don’t register for things like 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets that cost $2000, it’s fine.

As for the pink bedroom and convincing the bf…good luck! I was a bit curious though so I looked up the color and it IS really pretty and subtle, not obnoxious barbie hot pink so maybe you can convince him. So what color were you thinking of for the tv room? If you do pink in one room and gray in another, maybe a nice cream color would go with the pallet for the tv room.

    Have a good weekend!!!

I’m not a huge fan of the housewarming gift idea either. I guess to me it’s just not a big accomplishment when young people move from apartment to apartment. Heck, if I registered for every house I’ve “warmed,” I’d be loaded. I think this is the sort of thing you do when you’ve BOUGHT a house, and you’re throwing a party.

I understand that your relatives want to help- I think you should be more direct with them. In most cases though, housewarming gifts are small and inexpensive… candles or dishtowels, not blenders :)

Well, I think my weekend ran a close second to yours! We left home at 4:15 am Saturday, made it in time for the funeral in Puyallup, and then the Fair in the afternoon! Then home! I think registering for small gifts is just fine! Rather than deal with the horrors of completely wrong gifts. Get with the program girls, moving in is the practice run for the wedding. You might as well start making choices of what you would like. Life is too short to live with ugly stuff you don’t want, even if it was gifted with the best of intentions.
I would imagine those against registering are also against regifting?
