I’ve been spending a ton of time over at the Vintage Printables blog after hearing about it from Jamie Meares. When I came across this print I immediately thought “placemats”!

Chic *and* educational

Chic *and* educational

If I owned a diner or something I’d just laminate them and call it a day. But for something a little more chic, why not print it out on iron transfer paper and iron the design onto some rustic linen placemats? Hell, you could even use pink or purple ink if you wanted to go nuts. Though I think navy blue ink would look smashing.

Or maybe I’ll just be lazy and frame it and hang it in the kitchen. Ideas?

I actually went to a restaurant that had these exact prints as placemats. They only served beef, and when your waiter came over to take your order, you chose which cut of beef you’d like off of the placemat. It was genius, but disturbing and kind of hokey but totally fun and now kind of makes me sick to think about it all at the same time.

That would make really clever placemats for a steak dinner. Love it.
