This is such a great offer. Hope I’m not too late to enter. I’m struggling with my living room/entry. I purchased my home a little over two years ago, but after a bad breakup, am finally trying to make it feel more like home. The walls are a bland beige and the furniture’s mostly hand me down, and unfortunately not character-filled vintage hand me downs. I have around a thousand to spend, and my ideal would be to walk into a cozy, yet single-life ready room. Hope you can help!

I have a problem with my most used room—the living room. I have a couch and a gallery wall. That’s it. I need help figuring out an area rug, coffee table, occasional chair, you name it. The room is livable, but I wish I had something cuter and more “finished” to look at every day. And I’d like to get rid of the college furniture that is currently occupying/holding places for the new stuff.

Hi and thank you for the great idea!

I just moved in a new flat in Como. I have a nice 40 square meters room overlooking the city center and the cathedral, with lake view and lots of light coming in from 4 windows. It’s a really special place and I would like to do things right: my problem is I have to fit in there a kitchen (I like cooking while chatting with my guests), a dining table with chairs, a sofa or whatever would make a living room, and all my books. So even if the room is big enough, I am afraid to clog it and I’ve been looking for advice on how to make everything fit together

I’d be really happy to hear what you would do…

I would even let you come to my house and see my room in person. It is my combo family/dining room. I think I have the furniture arrangement sort of set but I need help with paint colors, art, accessories(!!!), and my crazy fireplace.

We’re moving in 2 weeks, to a new house with more space & as I will finally have a real job after years of training, we’re excited to really fix up the place with something a little more grown up than our current hodge-podge. The room I want to work on 1st is our bedroom – it’s a long rectangle with carpet that we’re going to rip out (it’s got hardwoods). I want it to feel restful, but with some interesting colors/details.

We are moving to a new apartment at the end of the month and have an interior design challenge — our living room and study are adjoining rooms, connected by a set of french doors – lovely! I’d like them to be connected stylistically and yet have individual character. Suggestions would be most appreciated.

I have a giant room as my downstairs (ground floor) that is my kitchen in one corner, then has to function as my office, living room, and dining room with no architectural details to help me split them visually. Tall ceilings don’t help, either! My brain is broke, please help!

I have a comfortably sized living room with a huge mirror that makes it seem much bigger and few decent pieces of furniture. If it was just those few pieces it would be great, but I have some others there out of necessity that’s just bringing the style down. I’ve been trying to phase out the transitional furniture in that room with more quality pieces, but I think it’s safe to ask, who has money for that right now? I think it’s great to mix and match for an eclectic and lived-in feel, but it’s so easy for really nice furniture to be totally overshadowed by awkward, disparate styles or something of really shabby or low quality.

Ooh! Yay! This is such an awesome idea, Maggie – props to you for going for it & starting a new side to your business I am buying my first home (I move in the end of August!!), and I would *love* some help deciding on a color scheme & floor plan for my long, narrow living/dining room.
