Cinched, cropped AND pleated… possibly the trifecta of fashion faux-pas, and yet these pants are EVERYWHERE lately. I can tell you how I’d look in them: lumpy, dumpy, and stumpy. But on these ladies from The Sartorialist, dare I say they kind of work?

i think all of these women look great. i’m not a fan of the pants b/c of the shape and the emphasis on the hips, but i also don’t dislike them, so i guess my answer is ‘no’ i wouldn’t wear them.
Not for all the tea in China. Those pants are downright hideous in my opinion.
I can totally see Katie Holmes wearing them, though!!
There is no doubt in my mind that I could absolutely not pull these off.
give it some time and we will all be wearing them…. remember just 5-6 years ago when we were appalled by the thought of skinny jeans or ankle high boots (I was!), now I can’t imagine life without them. Some trends shock at first… but I’ll place a bet that we will all be sporting these in at least a year.
Please tell me that the pleated pants are back… no one looks very good in them. No one. I certainly can’t pull these off.
I think I’ve seen these pants before in an 80′s music video or Star Wars. I just can’t remember which one.
They remind me of mom jeans…totally unflattering and ill-fitting. Or something an old Scottish gardner would wear (don’t ask me why.)
But I am also still clinging to my bootcut jeans and scorning the skinny jean. Maybe I’m behind the times.

I think they are kind of swell. Same old deal, look great if you are pencil thin. The rest of us, well, travel stretch works well.
Only if a flood was coming fast and I wouldn’t have time to roll up my real pants…
They look chic. I would not.
